Root Canal Treatment

A root canal treatment may be required, when the pulp at the centre of a tooth and its surrounding gum, have become infected. The symptoms may include more persistent and painful toothache, heightened tooth sensitivity and discomfort when eating/drinking. You may also notice a swelling of the gums or face.

Once we have investigated the extent of the damage, any bacteria in the root canal system will need to be removed and cleaned. Then at a later date, a filling or crown can be used to restore the tooth.

This treatment is usually successful, but sometimes a full tooth extraction may be necessary. We will always try to preserve your natural tooth where possible.
